Spring and summer in Camargue<\/strong>, are two seasons when many things happen for Birders.<\/h3>\n

Many Migratory Breeding birds<\/strong> are coming from Africa to breed in Provence.
\nBecause the Camargue has many sanctuaries where wildlife<\/strong> and biodiversity<\/strong> are the priorities.
\nIs then an ideal area for nesting.<\/p>\n

Breeding birds.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Collared Pratincole<\/strong> breeds in loose colonies. The Purple Heron<\/strong> is strongly attached to wetland<\/strong> and river delta<\/strong>.
\nThe white plumage of the Squacco Heron<\/strong> makes his observation easier.<\/p>\n

The most colourful birds we can observe every spring time in Provence are the European Rollers<\/strong> and the European Bee-eaters<\/strong>. Both species are coming in spring time to Provence.
\nIn May they find in Camargue the perfect area to built their nest.
\nIn summer the great numbers of insects flying other the wetland of the delta of the Rh\u00f4ne<\/strong> are necessary to breed the young birds and to make reserves before flying back to Africa in September.<\/p>\n

We can observe as well the Cuckoos<\/strong>, in Camargue the Cuckoo<\/strong> can be heard in April.
\nAs the Great Spotted Cuckoo<\/strong>, which is not an easy bird to observe.<\/p>\n

In Provence<\/strong> in the villages or farm called Mas in proven\u00e7al, the Hoopoe<\/strong> nests in old trees, the swift<\/strong>, the barn swallow<\/strong> and the house Martin<\/strong> choose the old construction.<\/p>\n

One of the magnificent birds of Camargue is the Great flamingo<\/strong>.
\nThey are now resident breeding species.
\nSince the 1990 a large colonie of Great Flamingos has settle down in Camargue.
\nThe plumage of the young Flamingos are black and white, then they turn pink when they reach the age of 3.
\nThe colour of the Great flamingo<\/strong> is due to the pigment find in their allimentation, the Artemia salina an aquatic invertebrates, present in the marsh and salty water.<\/p>\n

Camargue is the place to go to when you are a Birder in Provence. We have the chance in our region to have great sites as the Alpilles<\/strong> Mountain chain of the Sainte Victoire Mountain\u2026<\/strong>
\nWhere we will see different species than the ones observed in Camargue.<\/p>\n
